Blood Angel

Sharing this illustration I made about three years ago and never released until now.

At the time, I wasn’t satisfied with the overall level of the piece. Looking back, I understand why much better. The real challenge with Space Marines, and Black Templars in particular, lies in the armor design. Conveying their mass, weight, and that overwhelming sense of sacred steel is extremely difficult without making the figure feel stiff or artificial.

Understanding how the armor plates interlock, how the volumes carry weight, and how the silhouette remains readable while feeling massive is a discipline in itself. I clearly didn’t have all the tools back then.

This wallpaper is both a release and a milestone. I fully intend to return to the Black Templars with a much higher level of standards, a deeper understanding of Space Marine armor, and a more refined approach to their imposing presence.
